Aweber Review – 9 Aspects Discussed

Written by M Faiz
Updated on January 10, 2021

Pennsylvania-based AWeber has remained in the email marketing service for over 20 years. They claim to have invented the autoresponder. Keeping that in mind, it’s not a surprise that among their promoted features is email marketing automation, which is seen in a few competitors.

Customers are given access to all of their features from the beginning. It’s just adding subscribers that increases the cost of your membership. They recently released a free plan with a limit of fewer than 500 subscribers, but available features are limited.

AWeber also has split testing and Email Web Analytics. It permits you to use your domain in the links you want to track and track product sales quickly. They also have three mobile apps!

They also offer a nicer email designer that gathers logo designs. You can also find images, brand colors, and text from sites and social media channels for developing “ready-to-send” email design templates.

Let’s see if they have remained as the best after 20 years down the track.

Aweber‘s Features

AWeber has many excellent features. Some of them include:

  •  The capability to import and host a newsletter.
  • A vast array of design templates.
  • Autoresponders
  • Some (basic) marketing automation functionality.
  • Responsive email styles.
  • Reporting.Split screening.
  • RSS/ blog site to-emails.
  • List segmentation options.
  • A landing page home builder.
  • Phone, email, and live chat support.
  • Integrations with third-party apps.

Nevertheless, they don’t have any unique features. It isn’t clear every time the features are situated, which means they are simple to miss.

Aweber’s Free Plan

Like Mailchimp, Aweber offers a completely free plan. It is relatively uncommon in the email marketing world– most similar products provide a complimentary trial, however not unlimited access to the product.

Aweber’s free plan turns out to be less nice AND more nice than Mailchimp. It’s more generous than Mailchimp because, except for a couple of functions (significantly abandoned cart emails & split-testing ), you’ll get access to the majority of Aweber’s features free of charge.

Mailchimp’s free plan limits their free users to some core features – for instance, you cannot use any automation.Aweber is less generous in that. The free strategy works only if your email list consists of 500 contacts or fewer. Mailchimp’s free plan lets you deal with a list of approximately 2000 customers.

Both email services show their brand’s adverts on emails sent by users with their free plans; however, it’s relatively subtle.

Aweber’s Subscribers

AWeber uses the standard option to add or upload contacts. When you include a subscriber by hand– which would hold for individuals only beginning with email marketing, you can assign custom fields. It could be anything from preferred color to gender.

As you get more emails in your list, AWeber saves you time by suggesting suitable tags and campaigns based upon past entries.

You can customize the client details you collect to ensure you have the information you require to develop segments. You can customize your campaigns to ensure the emails you send are relevant. For example, if you offer sneakers, you can gather information on gender and consumer shoe size and, after that, develop a sector for ladies with 6-8 sized shoes.

AWeber enables you to quickly understand and arrange your contacts to produce the ideal campaigns and make the correct segments. There are many filters and search alternatives that allow you to get granular details on clients and better individualize your campaigns. They can be:

  • Date added.
  • Web page visited.
  • Sale quantity.
  • City.

Take the example of a website. You can view who visited your running shoes item page and create a campaign to target this group of clients. By trying to comprehend what your consumers desire, you can customize the content you send out appropriately.

There is also the choice to limit customers to ensure that they do not get emails from every campaign or specific projects. This helps circumstances such as when a client has opened a support ticket concerning a problem with your service or product.

You don’t wish to irritate them by sending a marketing email.

Aweber’s Messages

AWeber offers you great deals of choices to develop emails, depending upon your experience and the quantity of time you plan to invest. One of its most engaging functions is its AI-powered email builder, which is called Smart Designer.

All you need to do is enter the URL of your website, and it will produce a variety of templates quickly. You can save the templates as you like, and after that, start the modifying process.

The email creation control panel is well-organized and set out. The email editor is sluggish and a lot more complex to use compared to other email marketing solutions. It took much screening with the choices to produce an appropriate email message.

The preview option permits you to send test-emails to view how your message is visible on mobile and desktop. Still, you can’t take a preview at how it looks on Gmail and Outlook.

The capability to compute your spam score based upon DA, email copy and name does help increase email deliverability chances.

The send out time alternatives are likewise restricted because you can choose a set time. AWeber won’t instantly send out your emails based on your consumers’ time zone.

Aweber’s Automated Workflows and Campaigns

AWeber uses templates to help you build automated projects, consisting of a welcoming series for when a client signs up to your list.

Making your automated campaign is easy. You can use different criteria to trigger it. You have to drop the alternative and drag it into the workflow.

Aweber’s Sign up Types

AWeber offers a sign-up form builder to help you get information from your customers and build your list. The user interface is clunky– it’s hard to get the various aspects to go where you desire them– however it offsets it in performance.

This implies you can tailor each kind not to frustrate the user or hinder their purchase.

AWeber provides a range of design templates to help you rapidly build landing pages. Likewise, you can use its Smart Content feature.

Aweber’s Reports

AWeber’s reporting functionality tracks both your campaign metrics and subscriber metrics. With that method, you will understand the efficiency of your campaigns and your sign-up forms.

AWeber does not just track standard metrics such as clicks and opens, but also more detailed revenue-based metrics that permit you to correctly determine the ROI of your projects.

This consists of metrics such as:

  • Conversions.
  • Earnings with time.
  • Sales in a specific duration (such as the previous 24 hours).

AWeber not just supplies a graph of this information that allows you to know how well your private projects do and how all projects do over a period, it allows you to act based upon this information.

Pros & Cons

Aweber Pros And Cons
Pros and Cons of Aweber

What we like

  • A free plan is readily available.
  • It’s simple to use.
  • It features a large variety of design templates– considerably more than its main rivals.
  • Support options are more extensive.
  • It’s reasonably priced– while not the most affordable price, it is cheaper than many comparable options.
  • It has an integrated landing page home builder.
  • It facilitates AMP for email– something of a very first for email marketing tools.
  • It has excellent import performance, with the choice to import a wide variety of file types. You can then add the emails you’ve imported directly to an autoresponder cycle.
  • It incorporates a good variety of other tools and apps.
  • It makes setting up easy time-based autoresponders simple to do.
  • All email templates are responsive.
  • You can utilize web fonts in newsletters sent out with Aweber.

What we don’t like

  • There are less expensive choices out there that offer significantly more functions.
  • While the landing page builder works, it does not offer A/B screening or a method to use Facebook pixels/ Google Analytics cookies to make it GDPR certified.
  • Some of the templates look old.
  • The RSS to email design templates are less. They cannot be edited using Aweber’s primary drag-and-drop email builder.
  • High price & unfair subscriber count.
  • It needs an update.

Aweber Pricing

Aweber is, in general,

  • Substantially more affordable than Campaign Monitor.
  • Substantially less expensive than iContact.
  • Approximately the very same cost as Mailchimp.
  • Partially more costly than Getresponse.
  • Considerably more costly than Mad Mimi (keep in mind that Mad Mimi’s features are more basic).

However, in general, I’d state that Aweber’s price is in the mid of the email marketing spectrum.

Some Alternatives of Aweber

If you’re not interested in Aweber, feel free to check these great alternatives.

Of course, prices is not the only element you need to base your choice on … the more vital fact to notice is whether you’re getting the best value for what you’re paying.

If you’re trying to find something a bit more feature-packed at a similar rate point, Getresponse is a good contender. It also offers webinar functionality and e-commerce features, along with all features that Aweber offers.

Mailchimp is likewise a better-specced tool. However, the new changes to its price structure don’t offer great value for money.

Another item worth thinking about is Hubspot– this is a CRM item.

owever, it likewise includes some excellent email marketing functions.
Suppose you’re seeking something a bit more affordable. In that case, Mad Mimi is worth examining (but remember that Mad Mimi is a more basic option than Aweber).

If you’ve got loads of cash, then Campaign Monitor deserves a look too– it’s got plenty of excellent functions. Still, it’s costly in comparison to all the previously mentioned products.

Overall, I believe that Aweber is a good email marketing solution. It’s not the outright best item of its kind readily available. Still, it is reputable, reasonably priced, easy to use, and consists of most of the main features you’d anticipate from an email marketing option.

The primary elements of Aweber that I’m impressed with are its ease-of-use, web typefaces, landing page contractor, AMP for email performance, and good support. Its free option is generous, giving users little access to all the essential features forever.

The support aspect might be especially essential for users starting in e-marketing without technical abilities. Furthermore, Aweber is not too pricey by contrast to some competing products, mainly Campaign Monitor and iContact.

As soon, the main fact that would deter me from Aweber is its basic automation features.

I hope you found this Aweber review helpful.

  1. Honest review of AWeber! I really like the feature of copying a whole campaign from others in AWeber. That’s a powerful functionality. But I needed to create nice landing pages. That’s why I moved away. Maybe I’ll come back to this autoresponder later.

    1. I’m glad you liked my Aweber review. It’s true that nice landing pages are essential for any online business. Which autoresponder are you using right now?
